Best Auto August Fundraiser

When: Throughout the month of August, weekdays 8am to 5:30pm; Saturday 8:30am to 1:30pm.
Where: Best Auto Service Center, Route 611 in Tannersville, across from Friendly’s,
Running throughout the month of August, Best Auto Service Center in Tannersville will donate $5 to United Way of Monroe County for every oil change (includes 5 quarts of conventional oil – no coupons accepted). If you also do a tire rotation (which includes a free 24-point safety check), Best Auto Service Center will donate an additional $5.
No coupon or flyer required.

Day of Caring

When:  Thursday, September 6th, 2018 – the day will kickoff at 8am

Where: all over the county (kickoff will be at Barley Creek Brewing Company, 1774 Sullivan Trail, Tannersville, PA 18372)

This year’s Day of Caring is happening on Thursday, September 6th! This annual event brings together hundreds of community members and employees from local businesses who take a day to volunteer for non-profit community service organizations who are in need of a little help.

If you are a non-profit looking for assistance with a project, or a business looking for a great team building activity for your staff, or a community member who wants to get out and help a local non-profit, and learn more about the great work our community organizations are doing in Monroe County; then Day of Caring is for you.

2018 Campaign Kickoff

When: 8am to 9:15am, Thursday, September 6th, 2018

Where: Barley Creek Brewing Company, 1774 Sullivan Trail, Tannersville, PA 18372)

Pacesetters, Leadership Donors and Day of Caring Volunteers are invited to join us for our 2018 Campaign Kickoff and breakfast at Barley Creek on September 6th at 8am.
We’ll be releasing our first ever Community Impact Report,highlighting the results of our Impact Initiatives and our recent shift from a “fundraising organization” to an “issue-focused organization.”

 

Our 2018 campaign will help us continue to fight poverty in Monroe County and help those who are struggling to make ends meet, as we focus on three core issues: ending hunger, ensuring families have access to quality affordable child care, and connecting those who are most in need with basic services that help them get back on their feet.

2018 Pocono Cupcake Challenge

The 2018 Pocono Cupcake Challenge is back!

Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort will again be hosting the Pocono Cupcake Challenge on their Grand Lawn on September 16th, with all proceeds going to benefit United Way of Monroe County. This year, all funds will go to support our local information and referral line, which can be reached by simply dialing 2-1-1.

If you are interested in becoming a baker or a sponsor for the event, click here to sign-up!

The Pocono Cupcake Challenge is always an awesome day, with Home Bakers, Professionals and Junior Bakers (15 and under) showing off their baking skills for the Pocono community. Come out and have a fun time, while supporting a great cause.

7th Annual Dario Belardi Memorial Golf Tournament

Join us for United Way of Monroe County’s annual golf tournament fundraiser!

Dario Belardi was a dynamic United Way supporter who embodied the spirit of giving back. Following his passing in 2010, United Way launched an annual Memorial Golf Tournament in his name in 2012 – paying tribute to Dario’s benevolence, volunteerism, and love for our community.

United Way of Monroe County Annual Meeting and Report to the Community

When: Thursdsay, June 28th, 9:00am to 10:30am

Where: Worthington Ballroom, Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort

Why: Join us for our annual breakfast meeting where we will be presenting this year’s Community Investments. We will also take this time to provide an update on our community’s progress related to our Impact Initiatives: Access to Healthy Food, Support for Working Families, and Help When Needed Most.

In addition, we will be presenting one of our most prestigious awards, the Dr. Joseph and Dr. Rose Mattioli Philanthropy Award to Pat Ross. We will also be presenting our Partner and Volunteer of the Year awards. A fee of $20 covers the cost of the event, including a breakfast buffet. Check out our invitation by clicking here.

Day of Action: Book Drive

United Way of Monroe County is partnering with Read Across Monroe to encourage summer learning for children in Monroe County this summer. There are three different ways you can get involved:

1. DONATE BOOKS: We are looking for new or gently used children’s and young adult books to be donated. The book drive will run from June 1st through June 26th. Books can be dropped off at any of the following four locations in Monroe County:

– The Mountain Center, 354 Memorial Blvd, Tobyhanna, PA, 18466, 570-894-3272, www.themountaincenter.net
– Pocono Family YMCA, 809 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA, 18360, 570-421-2525, www.poconoymca.org

2. VOLUNTEER: Donated books will be sorted and boxed by volunteers during our 2nd annual Day of Action on June 26 at The Mountain Center, 354 Memorial Blvd, Tobyhanna, PA 18466 from 9 am to 12 noon. To sign up, click the link below.

3. SPREAD THE WORD: We will be delivering all books to summer lunch programs across the county. Children accessing summer lunch programs will be given free books to encourage summer reading. Spread the word about these critical services!

Mother's Day High Tea hosted by Sistah Chat Radio

Join us for a Mother’s Day High Tea to benefit WOMEN UNITED on Sunday, May 6, 2-4 pm at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort! Join the ladies of Sistah Chat Radio as we celebrate all the ladies in our lives. Hats optional. High tea will be served, along with a fashion show for all ages, and an auction of fun items.

WOMEN UNITED Paint and Pour

Where: Weiler Abrasives Group, Cresco, PA

When: March 20th, 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Join WOMEN UNITED for a fun Paint and Pour at Weiler Abrasives Group! We’ll be painting the beautiful, relaxing beach scene shown here. Instruction will be provided by our local WOMEN UNITED artist, Cristina Matos, with all supplies provided. We’ll also have our beautiful Liztech-designed WOMEN UNITED pins and WOMEN UNITED t-shirts available for sale, as well as basket raffles. All proceeds from the event support WOMEN UNITED, who are supporting struggling single moms in Monroe County.

Annual Campaign Report Meeting

Ertle Subaru Share the Love Event

Where: Ertle Subaru in Stroudsburg

When: November 27th through January 2nd

For every new purchase or lease of a new Subaru at Ertle, Subaru will donate $250 (and Ertle will add an extra $50) to United Way of Monroe County, when customers select the donate locally option.

The Belvin Family Christmas Charity Light Show

Where: The Belvin Family residence, 464 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg, PA

When: December 1 – January 1
5pm – 10 pm Sunday through Thursday
5pm – 11 pm Friday and Saturday

The Belvin Family Christmas Charity Light Show features over 89,000 lights synchronized to classic Christmas songs. The show is FREE, but donations are encouraged. 100% of all funds raised go to United Way of Monroe County on our Access to healthy food initiative, which aims to end hunger in Monroe County. n Fridays and Saturdays there will be free hot cocoa, cookies and soup.

Where: Mount Airy Casino Resort’s Event Center
